Challenged by the owner
to return a ubiquitous suburban lot to its natural setting LAPIERRE
STUDIO invented an ecological renewal plan. The phased master plan
program is to reconstitute this open lot that was previously
agricultural pastures, into a more diverse environment that consists of
native woodlands, a wildlife pond and a small summerhouse. Phase I
consists of a water garden oriented toward the master bedroom suite,
that is available and complimentary to the family recreation area and
informal gardens, intimate patio terraces with a built-in barbeque,
dinning and social spaces and a cedar veranda. Phase II is redeveloping
the front yard with a guest courtyard, low stacked stone wall and year
round floral interest. Phase III is a native woodland, planted with
heritage trees, native shrubs and groundcovers, ephemerals and a large
earth pond to provide a variety of wildlife habitats.
