3 Note Parti Starting at a point, framed by a pair of matching boxwoods, a clef-inspired, spiraling, granular path sets off into a hillside riff with edging, stones, and multi-textured ground covers, leading to a climatic ending at David's Lyre, a 72" bronze, by sculptor John L. Dreyfuss. Nearby, three golden songbirds send curious lilting notes into the garden air. Visitors are invited to pause at the harmonizing curves of elm logs - to observe, to listen, or to bravely proceed to the stone plinth, and contribute their own high note or formal interlude to this garden ecotone.
This temporary garden installation was constructed, by invitation, on the occasion of the AHS’s annual gala and fund-raising event at River Farm, one of five historic Potomac River farms owned and operated by George Washington.
