Doug Tipsword

spent his youth growing up in the ever-sprawling suburbs of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.  As a first generation suburbanite, Doug has experienced first hand the changes that can enrich and destroy the native landscape.  With a passion to learn more about how he could impact the natural and built environments he decided to study landscape architecture at Auburn University.  While at Auburn Doug was exposed to an open design studio environment in which a high level of emphasis was placed on the ethical, ecological, historical, geographical, and sociological issues that encompass landscape architecture.  Doug graduated in the Spring of 2006 and moved to Old Town Alexandria where he joined LaPierre studio's team.

Lawrence Pangburn‘s personal and professional interests in Landscape Architecture and Planning grew from his experiences growing up in upstate New York and seeing the impact poor planning has had on small manufacturing cities and towns. The inability for these beautiful and thriving urban areas to guide growth in a comprehensive and adaptable way has left them stagnant and disconnected. Seeing these affects inspires him to be a stakeholder in his community and environment by being an active participant in looking for ways for us as a society to meet our needs and face the challenges of the future.

Education: BLA, State University of New York, School of Environmental Science and Forestry – Syracuse, New York.
